SEAL

SEAL (the Social and Emotional Aspects of

Learning)

At Grove C.E. we follow a scheme of work which has been developed to help children with their social and emotional skills. It has been proven that children who have good skills are better equipped for life and learning.

The aspects of learning covered are:

  • Self-awareness
  • Managing feelings
  • Motivation
  • Empathy
  • Social skills

They are presented through 7 themes:

  • New Beginnings
  • Getting on and Falling Out
  • Say no to Bullying
  • Going for Goals
  • Good to be me
  • Relationships
  • Changes

All classes use this resource often through Circle Time sessions and class discussions.

We also run Small Group sessions to support children who find class sessions difficult and would benefit from more focussed support for their emotional well-being.

We run Family SEAL courses where parents can come along and learn about the materials we use with their children, talk about their experiences and take part in activities with their children.

You will also find activities to try out at home on the weekly Grove’s Golden Gazette.
