Governance Structure

Our local governing body provides strategic leadership and accountability in our school. Governors appoint the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher. It is governors who hold senior leaders to account for the performance of the school and, working with the Headteacher, make the sometimes difficult decisions about balancing resources.

ODST has a Board of Trustees which oversees the work of the Trust including the effectiveness of Local Governing Bodies. Our Local Governing Body meets up to six times a year. All of the governors attend these meetings. In addition, and a number of the governors will also attend the Resources sub-Committee which meets circa five times a year.

The Resources Committee ensures that the school uses its resources to achieve best value, thereby supporting the learning of all our students. This Committee is also responsible for Health and Safety, Premises and Staffing.

We have a number of vacancies on the board of Governors, if you are interested in becoming a governor, please see the Headteacher or contact the school office to make an appointment to meet with the Chair of Governors. Our governors come from different backgrounds and jobs and bring their skills and experiences to the Governing Body.

🎇 The end of October
When I was at school, it was always half term holidays.

What do governors do?
🌈 A governor is someone who helps the headteacher make the school a safe, happy and a brilliant place to learn.
We work with the Head to make school the best place it can be for you to learn and grow.

How many pets do you have? Do you have any pets?

There are lots of foods I love to eat depending on the mood I’m in. My favourite is probably Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.

📏  Metalwork and technical drawing
I loved to be able to draw things that could be made so lots of little details that had to be accurate.

March!
That means I get to celebrate just as spring is starting, my favourite time of year.

What do governors do?
🌈 A governor is someone who helps the headteacher make the school a safe, happy and brilliant place to learn.
We don’t teach in classrooms instead, we make sure the school is doing all the right things behind the scenes so you can do your best.

How many pets do you have? Do you have any pets?
🐶 I have two rescue French bulldogs:

📜 History!
I loved learning about the past — kings, queens, battles, inventions, dinosaurs, everything! It felt like stepping into a time machine.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
🦸‍♀️ Time travel!
So I could visit all the historical moments I read about at school.

What’s your favourite thing about our school?
💛 The smiles!
Every time I visit, pupils say hello, proudly show their work, or tell me something fun they’ve done. It makes my day every single time.
