Thank you to Cat and Jude from the Letcombe Brook Project who kindly showed Year 3 and 4 around the brook in Grove last week. We were fascinated to learn about this rare chalk stream, to find out what animals live in and around it and to calculate the water flow under the bridge. We didn't let the wet weather stop us learning more about geography in real life!
Oak class have begun their topic named Fun At The Seaside. Last week the focus was on Pirates and under the sea. They read the story The Rainbow Fish and learnt about coral reefs. Did you know they are animals not plants? Oak class then created their own Coral Reefs using coloured pasta. Well done Oak.
Sports Day 2026 Grove had a fantastic sports day on Friday. KS1 in the morning and KS2 in the afternoon took part in a carousel of sporting activities and then competed in running races with the team cup champions being announced according to the totalled points. We also enjoyed both a Mum's and Dad's race! Well done to all our children for trying their best and to our parents who came to cheer them on.

On the final day of Walk to School week, we hope that our pupils have found that walking to school helps us connect with friends and family, as well as our surroundings and the people who live around us. Well done to everyone who has tried to be active this week!
On the 4th day of Walk to School week, we will be singing the "Walk to School" song with Mrs Cresswell in assembly today, and learn how walking to school helps reduce the number of cars on the road which leads to cleaner air and a healthier planet.
Day 3 of Walk To School week - how can walking, scooting or cycling to school help you keep active? We've been pleased to see our bike and scooter parking being well used this term!
There are so many benefits to walking, wheeling, scooting, cycling or Park and Striding to school! On the second day of Walk To School week we are thinking about how we can travel safely, using the zebra crossings around Grove to get to school safely.
This Walk to School week, take a moment to appreciate the positive mental health boost walking to school can give you. It's an opportunity to chat to friends and family, meet your friends and enjoy the outdoors!
We are taking part in Walk To School Week next week! Our School Councillors have been doing a great job encouraging as many children as possible to walk to school, and giving out badges to those who have managed to walk in at least once a week. How many times will you walk to school next week?
Thank you to everyone who came along to our May Fayre and to the children for opening with our traditional dancing. There were lots of wonderful stalls, games and activities to be enjoyed as well as exceptional food at the bbq and vans. To all the staff and volunteers who took their time to set up, run stalls and tidy up afterwards and provide prizes.... A HUGE THANKYOU.
