Silver Birch class had an amazing day at Blenheim Palace this week! We enjoyed a tour of the palace, finding out about the history of the palace through historical paintings and grand stately rooms. Some of us had so many questions and the tour guides were really impressed with our enthusiasm. We also took park in a code breaking mission, looking for clues to find out the answers to break the secret code to open the big wooden chest. We felt very proud to be representing the school.
Don't forget you can bring a monetary donation tomorrow and wear your own clothes in aid of our school charity, the African Children's Fund. We finish at 3.15 pm as normal.
Thank you King Alfred's Academy, Wantage for the wonderful dance opportunity some of our Year 6s enjoyed on Monday! Miss Cooper was very impressed with their dance.
Today we celebrated Safer Internet Day! This year's theme is "Exploring the responsible use of AI". In Mrs Cresswell's assembly we learned about different parts of our everyday life that might use AI, including the recommendations on our streaming services, translation into other languages or digital assistants (e.g. Siri, Alexa) that play us music or tell us jokes. We discussed how AI can be used in a kind and positive way, but that it can be untrustworthy as it creates pictures, videos and apparent facts that are not true. Why not find out more about how to keep your family safe with the link below?

Wow Willow Class! What beautiful prints you have created this week following the AccessArt pathway that invites children to explore the world about them as a way to begin to understand the concept of "print". Children used their own bodies, then things they collected around them, to create a variety of prints. They used their hands and feet to make prints, and they took rubbings of textures from the environment around them. The children explored how they can build up images by creating multiples, and use line, shape, colour and texture to explore pattern, sequencing and symmetry.

Oak class have been learning about Antartica. They met a group of penguins who needed identifying and learnt that Penguins only live in the South Pole! They made their own story retellings of Lost And Found, a tale about a boy who finds a penguin, and everyone made their own penguin to add to the display. They make a cute huddle!
Year 6 had an interesting Science lesson investigating what happens when components are added to a circuit.
Thank you School Council! They helped Mrs Cresswell go through 6 big boxes of new books that have been funded by the Bookmark reading charity for our class and school library. These include picture books, graphic novels and chapter books. The councillors each chose a few for their class room and stuck in library labels. Year 4 will be the first to read our new books with their parents at the reading cafe after their class assembly this Friday!
